Oh look...an outfit post

Hello cool cats of the interwebs,

I thought today would be a good day to do my first outfit post because I really liked what I wore to go to the library.

This is me not knowing what to do with my hands.

I've been listening to this song nonstop, so I thought I would share it with you guys.

Do you believe in love at first sight?

I was on Style.com today looking at the 2014 Resort Collections, when I saw House of Holland.
The first words that came into my mind were: 70s Glam Rock Sparkling Galactic Princess and then I fell in love.
The entire collection is so fabulous that I couldn't pick a favorite, so I'll just choose a few randomly and talk about why I am so enchanted with them.

This one, just for the bell bottoms. I've been looking for a good pair of bell bottoms for months now because they are effortlessly timeless. I especially love the ones from House of Holland because of the pattern on the waist and leg. But aside from that, I love how the shirt itself is kind of boxy but then the sleeves flower out.

Is it just me or are these two extremely wearable for your average human. These outfits both get extra style points from me because of the placement what looks like badges on their shoes and clothing. I don't know why, but adding those just makes it even more pleasing (aesthetically) for me.

I always scream a little inside when I see a dress or skirt with pockets because I am just obsessed with them. Not to mention geometric prints, which I basically just like because I'm a math nerd. I feel like I could easily wear this dress with black creepers and a  coat that's just a bit longer than the dress itself (the type that  goes all the way to your knees). 

I get the feeling that if I wore this, I would feel like a really fashionable schoolteacher from the 1900s. This is one of the simpler looks from the collections, but I really like it cause... you know... minimalism? I don't know, I just think it's one of those things that I'm drawn to for no specific reason.

My first thought was that I would wear this look to a comic book convention because of the kapow! things from when the villain gets knocked into a building or something. The bag and dress just seem really fun and relaxed. 

It just occurred to me that almost all of the shoes look like all or part of them were doused in Mod Podge Extreme Glitter (in a good way)!

Anywho, that's just my opinion, what do you guys think? Let me know in the comments section.

First DIY!

Hi, welcome to my first blogged DIY. I've really been getting into layering with the Peter Pan collar recently but before, my only way of doing this was wearing a full length Peter Pan shirt underneath my clothes, which wasn't very fun in warm weather. So, finding that I had a bunch of free time and extra fabrics I decided to make my own removable collar. 

WARNING: The ability to sew (by machine or hand) is needed to complete this diy. 

These are your supplies

• scissors
• needle and thread (or a machine)
• Peter Pan collar template ( You can find a template for the collar anywhere online. Mine is a bit rough because I drew it myself)
• Elastic string of any sort (I used the string from a free sleeping mask I got from an airplane.)
• a button (any size)
• Fabric 
• hem tape (optional)

Fold the template in half and cut out one half.

Pin the template on top of fabric that has been folded over.

Cut out the fabric, leaving about 1/2 an inch for hemming. 

Hem the two individual cut out pieces. Hem tape is always useful 

because hemming is an extremely boring process.

Sew a button connecting the two pieces. 

This part is kind of confusing.

Place the almost completed collar where you would wear it and 

measure the approximate distance between the two ends.

Add about two or three inches for safety, then cut out that length of elastic.

Sew elastic onto each end of the collar (It was a bit long for me, ]

so I had to tie a small knot to shorten the elastic.)

This is the finished collar

apologies

Hey guys, I sincerely apologize to anyone who actually wanted me to post something new. I made the horrible decision of starting my blog a week before a trip to DC and two weeks before all of my final projects were due.

 

I just  finished reading Ghost World (David Clowes). The book in itself is just amazing! I feel like Clowes is insanely talented for weaving in such a powerful message about friendship, loss, finding yourself and holding onto the past underneath a cynic-Daria-ish lens and a TON of nostalgia. (I feel ridiculously pretentious typing that, but yeah.) The book includes a lot of stuff on a strange sense of akward, forced, suburbian provocations in displays on sexuality and profanity so i would say mature content. 

Anywho, what I really want to focus on is the clothing. At some points in the book I just wanted to reach in and like raid Enid Coleslaw's wardrobe.
The outfits are awesome, but the part that makes it even more awesome is how effortless she looks (and acts).

I mean, come on... how rad is this outfit! The hat, the jacket, the skirt. It's amazing. It all kind of gives off a 1930s feel.

Enid's leather jacket in this scene is just beyond words. Shout out to Rebecca Doppelmeyer for those awesome shoes!

I also thought I should point out Enid's beautiful glasses.

Even more intensely spectacular glasses. 

I would say Enid Coleslaw has the kind of style that I would like to get inspiration from in my future outfits.
